FESTIVAL OPENING HOURS

The festival opening hours are as follows:

FRIDAY: (Campers are given access to the site from 1pm)
4.00pm – Midnight

SATURDAY:
10.00am – Midnight

SUNDAY:
10.00am – Midnight

TICKETS

The following kinds of tickets are available:
• 1 day (Friday night OR Saturday OR Sunday)
• 3 days, non-camping
• 3 days, camping
Kids 12 and under will be admitted free, however they will still need to be issued with a wristband.
Children in the campsite will need to be accompanied by an adult, i.e. 1 child per paying adult.
Concession discounts (students, pensioner, unemployed, YHA card holder) will be available.

LINE UP/SCHEDULE

The full program has been finalised is now available (see the LINE UP section of the website) All programmed performances and activities will be free to ticket holders on a general admission basis, i.e. there is no reserved seating.
The schedule of who is playing on which day is available now.

TRANSPORT
Public Transport

Adelaide Metro buses and trains run from Adelaide city to Belair at regular intervals. Timetables and links are available here.
Train services are free all weekend to Event ticket holders. Simply show your ticket when travelling on any line for free travel.
For those wishing to be at the festival from the beginning of each day we suggest the following train times (noted as time they leave Adelaide Central Station):
Friday: 3:18pm and 3:42pm
Saturday and Sunday: 8.55am, 9.55am and 10.55am

Additional train services from Belair to the City at the end of the night have been added on:
Friday 21 October  -  11:05pm; 11:35pm; 12:35am
Saturday 22 October  -  11:05pm; 11:35pm; 12:35am
Sunday 23 October  -  11:05pm and 12:05am

Shuttle services

An event shuttle bus will take patrons from the train station and the designated car parks into the event site at Long Gully free of charge. Please note the shuttle bus cannot be hailed down but will only stop at the car park/entry point and the Belair Train Station and then on to the Event Site.
The shuttle bus will run every 10 minutes throughout the festival opening hours, from:
Friday 21 October  -  1pm- 12am
Saturday 22 October  -  10am- 12am
Sunday 23 October  -  10am- 12am

Driving

While there will be a limited number of car parks near the site available (for an extra cost of $10/day), you are strongly encouraged to leave your car home and to use the public transport services. In allocating car parks, preference will be given to holders of camping passes.

Cycling

Free bike parking will be available for those cycling to the event.

FAMILIES

Womad EARTH STATION is a family-friendly event and there will be a range of free activities suitable for children. Kids 12 and under are admitted free provided they are accompanied by an adult (children must wear wristbands which will be distributed at the festival entrance).
Aside from their entry wristband, we recommend that parents obtain a kids’ wristband for their children from the Info Booth and mark them with the adult’s name and mobile number in case the child gets lost. Parents should also organise with children to meet at the Info Booth if they do get separated. If a lost child arrives at the Info Booth, volunteers will alert security.

VOLUNTEERING

Volunteer applications for the 2011 festival have now closed. They will reopen in May next year for the 2012 festival.

STALLHOLDERS

The event will include a number of stallholders selling food and crafts and presenting information.

CAMPING

Womad EARTHSTATION includes a limited number of campsites within the Long Gully event site that must be booked in advance when purchasing your ticket.
Onsite camping conditions and restrictions include:
• Due to limited space, only hike tents are allowed (no camper vans, trailers or oversized frame tents). Each camping site is allocated 3m x 3m.
• There is no power available at the campsite and no generators are permitted.
• Showers and toilets will be available in the camping area.
• No flames/fires/flammables of any kind including portable gas or similar stoves/lamps or appliances will be permitted.
• Food will be available for purchase from the onsite food stalls/caterers. There are no communal camp kitchens available for preparation of food/meals.
• Individual campsites cannot be reserved – it’s first in, first served.
• Campers will not be able to park their car at, or next to, their campsite. There will be a shuttle bus operating to assist you to transfer your gear (tents, sleeping bags etc) to the campsite. There is no parking close to the campsite, so we encourage you to travel as lightly as possible.
• Camping tickets will be valid for the whole event (i.e. 3 nights). For safety reasons, campers are encouraged to be onsite to set up by 8pm Friday 21 October or no later than 12noon Saturday 22 October.
• No alcohol, illicit drugs or glass containers.
• No pets/animals are allowed onsite, except guide dogs.
• If you have a disability or require special assistance, please let us know at the time of booking your ticket so that we can make arrangements for your comfort and necessities.
• It is advised that you to leave all valuables at home.
• Drumming is not permitted in the campground.

Camping is also available at the Belair National Park Caravan Park www.belaircaravanpark.com.au, and nearby at the Brownhill Creek Caravan Park (10 minutes drive away) www.brownhillcreekcaravanpark.com.au.

WEATHER

Earth Station is an outdoor event and we will play rain or shine however the weather conditions in Belair in October are variable. Be prepared – showers are possible and cooler nights are highly likely, so waterproof and warm clothes and bedding are recommended. Check the forecast closer to the time.

DISABLED FACILITIES

Disabled facilities will be available on site.
Please be aware the festival site is on grass and if wet may cause difficulty for those confined to wheelchairs.

SMOKING

We would prefer that you did not smoke, for the comfort of other patrons. If you must smoke, please be conscious of those around you; smoking will not be permitted in front of the stages, inside any of the speakers tents, inside the stalls, workshop areas, food or kids areas. Smoking will not be permitted in ANY area of the campground. Cigarettes are not sold at the festival.

ONSITE FACILITIES/AT THE FESTIVAL

ATMs, Security and St Johns will be on site.
There will be chairs in the speakers tents available on a first-come, first-served basis (i.e. it is not possible to reserve a seat for events in the speakers program).

Mobile phone reception is limited at the event site, so please do not rely on being able to use your mobile.

An info booth will be onsite which will incorporate a merchandise stall.

LOST PROPERTY

Report lost property to the Info Booth. Found items will be held at the Info Booth until the end of the festival. Items will be held at the festival office (tel 8271 1488) until the end of October. Thereafter, valuables will be taken to the Sturt Police Station (tel 8207 4700) and the remaining items will be donated to charity.

BUSKING, FLYERING, FUNDRAISING

Busking, flyering and fundraising will not be permitted onsite unless approved by the organisers prior to the festival.
