LINE UP

The festival line up will embrace three key components:

GLOBAL MUSIC – performances from more than a dozen musicians and ensembles, beginning on the Friday evening with the presentation of the NASA-commissioned multi-media epic work, Sun Rings. This extraordinary work by Terry Riley, featuring a recorded libretto for the planet read by Alice Walker, is a majestic amalgam of chamber music, hypnotic visuals and the ethereal sounds from deep space transmitted by the Voyager spacecraft, performed by Kronos Quartet.

THE PLANET TALKS – developed in collaboration with the Environment Institute and the Wentworth Group of Concerned Scientists, it features speakers from different countries, backgrounds and professions discussing the many and diverse issues concerning the planet and the range of possible – and sometimes opposing – solutions, including climate change, solar power, food security, sustainability in the home and much more.

THE MARKET – environmental displays, educational stalls and a host of ethical traders who are leaders in the retail field.
